This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform work in association with a permit system.
Permits to workare a formal system used to control high risk activities in power generation facilities. They specify the control measures to be used. Permits ensure that all hazards and precautions have been considered beforeany hazardous workbegins.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare for permit to work procedures,perform permit duties and complete work. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator, in a power generation facility.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
